Meteor ‘s white 100% alpaca yarn hand-dyed into a beautiful pastel pink. I decided to step out of my box and hand-dye some of our yarns into lovely pastel colors. My method when I hand dye yarns and alpaca fiber results in one of a kind batches that are variegated. I dye yarns in small batches of 2 or 3 skeins to provide a VERY LIMITED, ONE OF A KIND collection that can’t be exactly duplicated. This makes for striking finished products made by our customers.
I chose to have Meteor’s fleece mill spun at Windy Acres Fiber Mill in Wolverine, Michigan by owner Charlotte Revenko (also a US Veteran!). Each skein is 200 yards long and spun in a DK weight. The number of skeins of yarn from any one fleece are limited in number and even more so when I use part of the batch for hand-dying. This hand-dyed pink alpaca yarn is gorgeous!
All of our 100% alpaca yarn is processed either by hand or by a Michigan mill in small batches so each skein can be identified by alpaca. We place a wrap around each skein detailing the yarn by yardage, weight, and alpaca.
